抗战开始，国内的经济形势急转直下，土山湾的业务也陷入了困境之中。为了维持孤儿院的运作，土山湾各部门不断拓展业务，甚至将其产品远销至非洲各地。我们曾在土山湾出版的广告单页中看到两张为澳门教堂设计的彩绘玻璃图样，一幅是圣母圣诞主题，另一幅是耶稣圣诞主题。几年前曾有机会亲往澳门朝圣，果然在澳门的主教座堂和主教山海崖圣母堂中见到了这两幅玻璃原物。

彩釉玻璃是将无机釉料（又称油墨），印刷到玻璃表面，然后经烘干，钢化或热化加工处理，将釉料永久结于玻璃表面而得到一种耐磨，耐酸碱的装饰性玻璃产品。

Color glaze glass is an inorganic glaze (also known as ink), which is printed to the surface of glass, and then dried, tempered or heated to process the glaze on the glass surface to get a wear-resistant, acid and alkali decorative glass product.
